Treo 700p and the Macintosh

Just a quick note on software for those using the Treo 700p with a Mac.

I knew I didn't want to use Palm Desktop. I'd have to switch to it's calendar and contacts list. I've grown too accustomed to the convenience of iCal and the Mac's Address Book, and how well they work with .mac and my iPod. So I bought The Missing Sync from mark/space. It does all the syncing I need, and works very well. I give it a high recommendation.

The other issue was using the phone as a wireless modem for my Mac laptop. Reading various threads, I found that USB tethering was not officially supported for Mac, and using Bluetooth would work, but more slowly. But as I read on, I learned about USB Modem from Mobile Stream. While Mobile Stream has one of the ugliest websites I've ever seen, this product simply works, and works well. I was on the net about 15 minutes after I learned about the program! There's a 14 day free trial, but it worked so well that I paid for it after 1 day.

Kudos to both companies for making great products that allow the Mac to work seamlessly with the 700p.
