I regret I can't remember the name of our other guide, who has been a Beatles fan since 1957!! We saw birthplaces for most of the Beatles, and many of the homes they lived in.
Also, the Liverpool Institute of Art, Brian Epstein's homes, birthplace and synagogue, and the park where John's mom Julia Stanley first met that Alf Lennon. There were two quick drives through Penny Lane, where I'll spend more time soon.
But the highlight was St. James' Church, where in 1957 Paul McCartney saw the Quarrymen perform. In the church hall, which is not often open to the public, we got to stand in the room where John and Paul first met. A place that changed the world. Next up, the gate to Strawberry Field.
We also saw the Empress Pub, seen on the cover of Ringo's first solo album, "Sentimental Journey." More pictures are online.
